The New Saints boss Scott Ruscoe has admitted his delight as his side swept Cefn Druids aside with a thumping 5-1 win as TNS lifted their seventh consecutive Welsh Premier League.

Four goals from Greg Draper, plus a superb long-range effort from Tom Holland, saw TNS enjoy their day in the sunshine after the title was confirmed on Friday night with Bala Town's defeat to Connah's Quay Nomads.

Ruscoe says the focus is now on the next European adventure.

"I’m feeling very good, pleased and happy," he said. "Everyone says about that first one and what follows on from there.

"We’ve done it now and we’ve got two trophies on the board for us to start planning for the Champions League on July 11.

"The difference in the sensation of winning it as a coach and as a player is I’m less knackered. I always enjoyed winning it as a player, looking to play as many games as I can and win trophies.

"As a manager, there’s so much planning that goes on behind the scenes – more than the players know – so to do it is a really nice feeling when everything you put into place comes to fruition.

"When we win with such a good performance like that, it makes it redundant that the league was won on Friday night by Bala losing."

Meanwhile, Draper four goals took him past the 100-mark in the league, a feat in which he was delighted to achieve but admitted he was starting to get frustrated by being stuck on 99.

The New Zealander also added to his manager's sentiments that the Champions League is at the centre of Saints' minds now.

"Being stuck on 99 goals had started to get at me for a while," he said. "I scored the 99th on January 31 I think, and even in that game I had three or four chances.

"In the last few games I’ve had chances, so it was staring to get to me but it as nice to get an early one and then follow them up with three more. That’s how it goes – you can go months without scoring then get four at once.

"I wasn’t panicking but I was getting frustrated. I haven’t been through a patch like this but I knew I’d get a bit of luck like today and I just put my foot through it.

"This means the same as the first one seven years ago. Today wasn’t an anti-climax but it’s probably not good for the league that we keeping winning it so early.

"But I’m not complaining; if someone offered me the league done with four games to go, I’d have snapped their hand off.

"It’s about the Champions League – that’s been the aim for a few years now to have a good European campaign."
