The ENGLAND and Wales international squads for the upcoming friendlies have been announced and some choices are interesting.

Nick Pope and James Tarkowski have been included but so have Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck. Why? Welbeck can't even get into the Arsenal team, never mind England. He might have scored against AC Milan on Thursday but he's hardly played.

I've not got a lot of faith in him. I like Wilshere as a player but he's been prone to injury and is always close to being out for six weeks. It's not very inspiring.

The Welsh squad is largely picking from the Championship. Obviously, Gareth Southgate has a bigger pool to choose from but Ryan Giggs is looking for good younger players to come through and inspire the squad.

But I'm not a fan of international football – I've said previously I enjoy watching top sides in Europe.

Giggs might find this a real culture shock because of the players he's used to working with. At Manchester United, he was working with the cream of the crop and did they really need that much improvement?

But with these players, he might have to go back to basics and see how far they can go? He's had his generation of the likes of Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsay and Joe Allen but has he got enough coming through?

I'm not sure. He might have good young players but there's a gap around those who 24-28 that gel your squad together. He might need them.
