Sport Relief is back and colleagues and customers from Sainsbury’s Oswestry will be getting active and raising money for the charity.

This year Sport Relief is challenging the nation to come together to walk one billion steps a day, every day from March 17 to 23, counting their steps through the brand new Sport Relief App, available to download for free.

Sainsbury’s will be leading the charge with colleagues stepping up as part of Team Sport Relief.

Over the next few weeks, Sainsbury’s colleagues all over the UK will be working hard to raise money for Sport Relief, which will conclude with a week packed full of in store activity.

Fundraising activities at the Oswestry store include regional manager Jonathon Carr running Sports Relief miles with colleagues, taking place on March 22 to raise as much money as possible for Sport Relief.

All challenges are helping to meet the one billion steps challenge.

Allister Moutrie, store manager at Sainsbury’s Oswestry, said: “Our colleagues love getting involved with Sport Relief fundraising and we’re all really proud to support such a great cause.

"There are some brilliant activities planned this year and we look forward to inviting customers to join in with the fun.”

Sainsbury’s shoppers can now pick up the official Sport Relief merchandise in store to support the charity.

This year, items include wristbands, pin badges, deeley boppers, water bottles and much more.

Customers can also win great prizes by buying a £1 scratchcard in store –with all proceeds going to Sport Relief.

Sainsbury's has supported Comic Relief since 1999 and thanks to the support of customers and colleagues has raised more than £115 million for the charity to date.

To help the nation keep track of their hard earned steps and ensure they count towards the national total, the brand new Sport Relief App will be available to download for free.

Packed with innovative challenges, exclusive celebrity content and a national step tracker to keep count towards the billion, it will also include countless ways to get active and raise money for Sport Relief.
