Hallmark Security League

Division One

FC Oswestry Town were thwarted by the weather once more as their clash with Holker Old Boys was postponed on Saturday.

Town have been frustrated of late with the call-offs and they remain in 12th spot as their momentum has been brought to halt despite hopes of a play-off push prior to Christmas.

They remain in the TJ Vickers Shropshire Cup however, and will be dreaming of silverware to mark their year.

They will hope for better luck on Saturday when they host bottom-of-the-table Nelson at Park Hall for a 3pm start.

Welsh National League (Wrexham Area)

Llanuwchllyn P

Chirk AAA P

Chirk AAA's bid to put their recent Welsh Trophy defeat behind them were put on hold as their trip to title rivals Llanuwchllyn was one of four top-flight games to fall foul of the weather on Saturday.

With their recent run of postponements and a few indifferent results – including defeat at home to Buckley Town – Chirk have dropped to mid-table in the Premier Division and are 10 points behind leaders Brickfield Rangers.

Striker Joe Evans was denied an instant return to his old club.

However, they have a game in hand and new management pair Jack Ellis and Matty Thomas will aim to kick-off their reign with a win at Lex Glyndwr, kicking off at 2pm.

They will try to cut the gap to the top sides as Brickfield, Corwen and Buckley Town are all in League Cup action but in the league, Llanuwchllyn will travel to Saltney Town.

However, Chirk will be looking to put together a solid rund of results.

Meanwhile, the Holyhead Road' s reserve side returned to winning ways on Saturday as they defeated Queen's Park 3-2 at home in the Reserves Division.

The lower to mid-table clash win moved Chirk off the same number of points as Queens Park as they edged away from the bottom two, albeit iwth a 10-point gap over Corwen and Castell AC, w o look to be cut adrift from the rest of the division.

Like many in the league, Chirk have played 13 games and are well off the pace when it comes to any honours at the end of the season.

On Saturday, they are at home again as they host Flint Town United (2pm) who despite playing the most games in the league at 15, will still be wanting to challenge the top four.

Shropshire Premier League

Neither Gobowen Celtic and St Martins Village were in action on Saturday as few games took place in the Shropshire Premier League.

However, both sides will be out of action again this weekend as various cup competitions take precedence, with Celtic returning to action on February 10 at Shifnal United 97.

The Villagers will be looking to bolster their current five-point Division One lead on February 17 at home to Wrockwardine Wood Juniors FC at the Playing Fields.

Both games will be 3pm kick-offs.

JT Hughes Montgomeryshire League
