LEAGUE 'SPLIT' ON THE AGENDA

ONE of the most important meetings in the history of Welsh domestic football takes place on Sunday at Park Hall.
The chairmen of all 18 member clubs of the Welsh Premier League are expected to attend the meeting to give their opinions on the future of the league.

Chief among them are certain to be the controversial proposal to split the league into two with the top tier of 10 clubs playing each other four times a season along the same lines as the Scottish system.

The remaining clubs would form a new second division with less demanding ground and financial criteria.

Opportunity

Board chairman Phil Woosnam said: "One thing we can all agree on is that standards must continue to improve. The Welsh FA currently supports the Welsh Premier financially and the creation of a two tier league would require additional investment."
