WHITTINGTON Seconds made the journey to Worfield thirds on Saturday, aiming to continue last week's winning form
After winning the toss, and electing to field, Whittington's fielders were soon put to the test on a muggy and humid day.

Worfield's opening partnership soon started to punish Whittington's poor bowling, and soon got to the good position of 85 for
one, with S. Randall scoring 45, having been let off with a dubious run out decision while still on 12.

With their captain staying in, while all around him fell, helped Worfield push on, and he eventually fell for 58.

But a late flurry from Josh Harris who had hit 28 runs at the death, took Worfield to 180 all out after 38.2 overs.

Whittingtons bowlers stuck at it well, despite the heavy weather, with Jason Whitley taking three for 23, Ryan Williams taking two for 27, Yuri Pugh taking two for 17, Owain Davies (two for 38) and Gary Payne (one for 25).

Whittington went out to bat looking for 181 to get a good victory, but soon found themselves struggling and losing wickets regularly. They were restricted to 23 for five after 14 overs.

However a stern innings between Owain Davies and Martin Ellis, of 35 helped Whittington along to 58 for 6, with Ellis scoring 11.

However, Whittington were still not entirely out of the woods, as they still had 19 overs to last out, and after another good partnership between Davies and Jason Whitley (18), Whittington looked like they could scrape a losing draw.

But Davies was eventually undone for a very well played 45. Whittington soon had their tail wrapped up, and they were all out for 111 after 30 overs.

Worfield took the 23 points for victory, with Whittington taking six for their trouble.
