MILE End Golf Club has been the 'driving force' behind a village soccer club looking to raise its game.

Llanymynech Under 10s are currently flying high in the seven-a-side section of the Shropshire Junior League but are looking forward to competing in the 11-a-side division next season.

The boys have already played six friendly 11-a-side matches in preparation and have won all six.

Richard Thompson, proprietor of Mile End Golf Club, near Oswestry, presented the team with 18 training kits for players and coaches as part of their plans for next season and also treated the squad to an enjoyable session on the driving range with club professional Scott Carpenter.

Richard said: "We are delighted to be able to help these local youngsters by providing a high quality kit and a great team image in their preparations for further footballing glory."
