STAND by for a knock-out show when four former boxing world champions and another who twice fought for the title, arrive at the Lion Quays, Moreton, for an evening of chat and reminiscences on Friday night.

On the exclusive card will be Alan Minter, John Conteh, Charlie Magri, Dave 'Boy' Green, and John H. Stracey in a boxing fan's dream organised by Mike Williams.

Minter won his middleweight title in Las Vegas over 15 rounds in 1980 and is also a
former British and European title holder.

Liverpool-born John Conteh was world light heavyweight champion in 1974 winning on points from Jorge Ahumada; Charlie Magri stopped Eleancio Mercedes of the Dominican Republic in 1983 to claim the world flyweight title.

Dave Boy Green, nicknamed the Fenland Tiger, twice fought for the middleweight title in 1977 and 1980, being knocked out on both occasions and John H. Stracey held the world welterweight title from December 1975 to June 1976 winning in Mexico City with a technical knock-out over Jose Napoles who had both eyes closed by Stracey's punches.

Tickets, priced £65 and a VIP package for £90 are available by phoning organiser Mike Williams on 0750 5506493.

Mike has a good track record of organising boxing after dinner speakers with profits from a Frank Bruno and Henry Cooper evening helping Cefn Mawr Boxing Club.

A future show will feature Marvin Hagler, Joe Calzagie and Joe Frazier.
