South Lancs and Cheshire League Division Two
Ashton on Mersey 37,
Oswestry 0
ON A wet pitch, but in good weather, Oswestry lost to the team directly above them in the league.
The loss means Oswestry now occupy third from bottom place with one game left.

Despite the score suggesting Oswestry suffered a good hiding, for 50 minutes they played well and competed fully in an entertaining game up to that point.

The first half started well for Oswestry with continuous pressure forcing Ashton to repeatedly kick for touch as a means of gaining ground. However, the good handling and surging runs failed to produce points which has been the theme of the last few games.

Ashton, with the ball in hand, got into the Oswestry 22 for the first time and scored their first try. 10 minutes later Ashton scored a good second try with a move starting on halfway. Oswestry again were giving a good account of themselves but conceded a third try on half time after many phases of play on their own goal line.
