CHIRK swimming sensation, Paige Davies, recently enjoyed more international success after competing in Switzerland.
Paige represented Wales at the competition and came away with a bronze medal, a personal best and qualification for two more swimming finals.

Juggling her studies for her GCSE exams alongside her training regime, Paige's mother, Samantha, says she
is coping well and is balancing her swimming success with her academic success.

Samantha said: "We'd like to thank A1 Aerials for paying Paige's entry fees as well as Chirk Pantomime Committee who donated £50."

Paige isn't short of support, also gleaning funding from her uncle, Simon Nash, Stans Superstore in St Martins, who have pledged £100 a year until the next Olympic year, 2012, and Kronospan, who will sponsor her on her next competition in Scotland.

So dedicated to the sport is Paige that she opted to compete in Switzerland instead of attending her cousin and Hull City FC goalkeeper Boaz Myhill's wedding.

This week, Paige is in Scotland taking part in a five-day competition and has a busy six months ahead of her with contests in Swansea, Sheffield, Cardiff and Leeds.

Samantha said: "I want to say 'thank you' to the local community because without their support, Paige wouldn't have been able to compete so much."
