AS PART of their Duke of Edinburgh Award, Year 11 pupils from the Marches School, Oswestry recently joined Oswestry Sub Aqua Club for a taste of life underwater, and have been encouraging others to have a go for themselves.
The DofE scheme aims to present young people with challenges and new experiences, and with the support of the Oswestry Sub Aqua Club, several Year 11 pupils from the Marches School joined qualified instructors who helped them learn to use SCUBA equipment in the Rhyn Park School swimming pool, the club's normal training venue.

The sensation of weightlessness and the strangeness of being able to breathe underwater, combined to create a memorable evening for the novices and many seemed keen to take up the adventurous pastime for themselves, with the opportunity of eventually exploring coral reefs in tropical waters.

Oswestry Sub Aqua Club is actively seeking new members and all newcomers are welcome at their weekly Rhyn Park School pool sessions, 8-9pm each Monday during term-time, with more information available from their website at www.oswestrysubaqua.org or by phoning Chairman, Eric Lloyd on 01691 830357.
