MOTORcycle scrambling is in the genes of 14-year-old Dylan Lewis of Weston Rhyn.
The Rhyn Park School pupil was crowned schoolboy champion at Under 15 level at his club, the Cheshire and North West Schoolboy Scrambling Club, and also is well placed in the national championships.
A flurry of wins in 65cc classes brought him to the fore as a junior and this year he recorded six straight wins in the club’s 12-round Big Wheel 85cc championship at Peacock Hay, Congleton.
Only injury cost him a top five place in the KWS British Masters which attracts the best young riders from all over the country and in which he finished equal 11th.
The son of Catherine and Marc Lewis, he has been coached from the age of six by his father, himself a former scrambler, and dad also provides some of the sponsorship through his company, Lewis Electrical Services, from Weston Rhyn.
Catherine says that like all mothers, she worries, but knows that scrambling is an excellent sport to be in. “The social side is very good too and Dylan gets the chance to meet people from other areas in an out of school environment,” she said.
Rhyn Park School is also supporting Dylan by allocating some “out of curriculum days” whereby he can combined both his sport and his education.
