Welsh National League Reserve Division
Chirk AAA 1, Bala Town 2
WITH Chirk having no game in the Premier Division, it was the Reserve team who took the spotlight when they entertained Bala Town Reserves.
Things did not go to plan and it was Bala who raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of goals from Einion Edwards and Anwyn Rowlands (penalty) before the break.
Chirk, who had looked lethargic in the first period, started the second half in a much more positive fashion and they held the upper hand for the remainder of the game.
However, Chirk could only score what was a consolation goal from teenager Cai Roberts who converted with a fine header on the hour mark. For all Chirk’s possession they could not find another goal for the equaliser and Bala went away with all three points.
l In the Premier Division on Saturday, league leaders Chirk AAA take on second placed Venture in what is a proverbial six-pointer. Chirk are seven points clear of their nearest rivals and it is sure to attract a large crowd to Holyhead Road.
Chirk look like being at near full strength, with Kevin Price having played a full 90 minutes for the Reserves last Saturday having recovered from an ankle injury. Jamie Russell continues to struggle with a knee injury and is rated extremely doubtful for this big clash. Kick off is 2pm.
Chirk Reserves travel to Hawarden Rangers for their game in the Reserve Division also with a 2pm kick off.
