Shropshire Alliance Football League
Ludlow Town Colts 3, Oswestry Town Lions 0
Ludlow stunned high-flying Oswestry Town with virtually a second string side as the Lions were tamed in the SBS Stadium.
With just one win from five so far this season, Ludlow had to call in extra players just to get the game on, but surprised the league's second placed side when Aaron Hodge broke the deadlock to give Ludlow the lead.
Rob Evans made it two for the home side, and stand-in Colts' 'keeper, Nick Giles, pulled off a string of first class saves to keep out a Lions' backlash.
His heroics were rewarded at the other end as Hodge found a third for Ludlow to seal the win and leave the Lions wounded.
Prees United 2,
Weston Rhyn 2
Prees welcomed Weston Rhyn to their Recreation Ground but would have been left smarting after throwing away a two-goal lead in a match which echoed their inconsistency this season.
Tim Bowen and Ben Wodja gave them a solid platform for the three points, but Ryan Leightwood and Mike Jones certified a point for the visitors with both teams tied for third in the early standings.
Bayston Hill 3,
Cockshutt '08 3
Cockshutt failed to move off the bottom of the table despite a late equaliser at Bayston Hill.
A Karl Bailey double had given the visitors a two-goal lead at the interval as Cockshutt flew out of the blocks in pursuit of their hosts who had started the day in third place.
But the home side regrouped and scored two quick-fire goals through Glen Carson and Stuart Mycock.
Bret Taylor punished Cockshutt further as Bayston Hill looked certain to take the points, but a late goal from Liam Bailey meant that Cockshutt avoided defeat for only the second time in six games.
Hopesgate United 2, Oswestry Boys Club 2
Oswestry Boys Club failed to make it three wins in a row as they were held by a determined Hopesgate United at the weekend.
Chris Bishop was the grateful recipient of a searching long ball that allowed him to race in on goal to put Oswestry in front, and he struck again before the break to make it two-nil to the visitors.
A rejuvenated Hopesgate hit back after the break however, and Danny Jones rose to head the ball home to capitalise on an inviting ball amidst a static Boys Club defence.
But as the game reached fever pitch, controversy reigned when Hopesgate were awarded a goal with the referee judging the ball to have crossed the line.
Tempers flared as the game then degenerated into a scrappy affair before the final whistle brought to an end a fiery encounter.
