SENIOR Rugby starts on Saturday September 4 with all three Oswestry teams opening their league seasons.
The 1st XV entertain Glossop at Park Hall in the South Lancs/Cheshire Division One while the second XV travel to Winnington Park II in the University of Salford North West League Division Three and the 3rd XV travelling to Northwich IV in Division Five of the same league.
Pre-season friendlies have been successfully completed with many different combinations of players being tried, some in unfamiliar positions, with the objective of developing a truly flexible squad.
Director of Rugby Jason Munro continues to preside over coaching with new head coach Scott Sturdy in control on a day to day basis.
Friendly
Oswestry will again field a 4th / Vets team in friendly fixtures, coached by Mark Jones, trying to average one game per month.
Unfortunately first-team team captain Andy Howell will miss the whole season whilst he has reconstruction on a knee, damaged in training.
On a happier note first team winger Rob Massam was selected to represent England Lionhearts amateur rugby league side and scored a try against Ireland while playing for Chester during the summer.
Games at Park Hall will kick off at 3pm except November through March when the kick off will be 2.30. The club will really appreciate everyone who comes along to support.
