THE Oswestry cricketer at the centre of an on-field fracas, has had his ban effectively cut by half a season.
Allan Morris, the former third team skipper, who was originally banned for the best part of two seasons for an altercation with a Whitchurch opponent, has had the last 11 games of his ban suspended by the Shropshire League's disciplinary committee.
Now the Oswestry club is seeking clarification on the extent of the ban and are asking whether it would prevent Mr Morris carrying out the duties of scorer or playing in non-competitive forms of cricket.
Oswestry club captain Mike Robinson said the club had hoped that the ban would be reduced further but were philosophical.
"We have now accepted it and Allan has accepted it. We have now drawn a line under the whole thing," he said.
Whitchurch player Ian Simcock immediately accepted an 11-game ban for verbal abuse and provocative behaviour.
The game, which was played at Oswestry School ground on May 11, was abandoned.
