IAN Williams has paid a glowing tribute to the TNS squad ahead of Saturday’s Welsh Cup quarter-final clash with Port Talbot Town at Park Hall (2.30pm).
The long-serving Saints general manager dubbed the class of 2010 as the “best squad in his time with the club”.
“In terms of numbers and quality I think the current squad is as good if not better than any of previous seasons,” said Williams.
“We are playing some really good football at the moment and we are delighted to still be in all three competitions.”
Port Talbot Town arrive at Park Hall in fine spirits after breaking into the top three in their pursuit for European football.
Williams is backing the ambitious Steelmen to achieve their goals and insists TNS will not be underestimating their visitors.
“We have a decent record against them at home but we know from our games down there that Port Talbot are a very capable side, with quality across the park. They could even end in the top three this season.”
The Saints are weakened by the unavailability of new signing Chris Sharp (right) who is cup tied after representing Bangor City in the competition earlier this season.
Sharp lifted the cup in 2008 and 2009, but will be unable to complete a treble following his transfer.
“It’s a shame to be without Chris who did really well against Newtown last week but we have players capable of stepping in,” added Williams.
