A GROUP of Mixed Martial Arts fighters are planning a fundraiser to support the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Members of Elite Martial Arts, who are currently based at the Eastern Oswestry Community Centre, will be attempting to run up and down The Coppie in Oswestry 1,000 times to raise some money for the disaster appeal.

The challenge will take place on Saturday from 9am to noon.

“I have trained in Thailand and when I saw the scenes of devastation in Haiti it reminded me of my time in Asia and wanted to help,” said club member Richard Cosgrove.

“We regularly take on the hill as part of our training, and the maximum number of runs up in one go by an individual is 20 so far.

“The more people that turn up, the quicker we’ll reach our target, so if people can turn up and manage to do just one, it will be a great help,” he added.

If you want to take part contact Rich Cosgrove on 07970 856002 for more details or visit www.elite-martial-arts.net.
