DARTS fans and players from around the world are set to converge on Oswestry's Park Hall Pavilion for a prestigious tournament organised by a Chirk-based promoter.
Local players are invited to challenge former world champions Ted Hankey and Richie Burnett in an open tournament being held on June 28 with a top prize of £2,500 for the winner.

Women's World champion Anastasia Dobromyslova is also expected to en
ter the event which is bringing its own special stage to Park Hall and is set to attract around 1,000 people, around half of them competitors.

Preliminary rounds are being played at Whittington Cricket Club pavilion with all rounds up to the quarter final played over the best of five legs.

Quarter and semi finals will be the best of seven legs while the final will be the best of 11 legs.

Michael Edwards of Edro Promotions says it was a superb chance for local players to rub shoulders with world champions on an equal footing with no seeding.

Shropshire's own Steve Farmer, who is in the top 20 darts players in
the world has also promised to drive over from his home in Telford.

"Any player from the local pubs could be drawn against Ted Hankey and there is a total of £4,000 in prize money, right down to £25 for ninth place.

The tournament begins at 11am with registration an hour earlier.
Time is running out, so anyone who wishes to enter the tournament should ring Edrow Promotions on 07772 648342 as soon as possible.
