THE World Cup began yesterday and Wrexham will benefit financially from having two players competing on the big stage.
Reds captain Dominic Hyam has been named in Scotland's 26-man squad for the tournament which takes place in United States, Canada and Mexico, and runs until July 19.
Wing-back Libby Cacace is also involved after being called up by New Zealand.
With Hyam and Cacace on international duty, chief executive officer Michael Williamson revealed Wrexham will receive a payment which will increase the longer their countries remain in the competition.
"It's a daily payment rate from when they are actually called into camp and based upon how many days the players are in World Cup participation," said Williamson.
"Obviously if you advance past the group stages, you get more.
"I remember when I was at Inter Milan, it was not an insignificant amount that we were getting. I think all of our players were actually playing in World Cup competitions.
"Bigger clubs like that that have a lot of World Cup players obviously get a considerable amount of funding from that."
Although The Racecourse outfit will gain from the pair being at the World Cup, Williamson is more proud of the fact that the club is being represented at the finals.
"While it's nice to get some financial benefit from them participating, what's more important is just being able to be proud of having two Wrexham players playing in the World Cup," he added.

"I wish it was five because I definitely think Kieffer (Moore), Nathan (Broadhead) and Danny (Ward) would have all had a fantastic World Cup if they were able to to get into it with Wales.
"It's a nice little bonus but for Libby and Dominic to represent their countries, there's such pride in that because not many people get to do that and rise to that level.
"From my perspective, I'm more proud of the fact that we at Wrexham have been able to develop a culture where players now are able to also represent their country in that way."
