Chirk martial arts club trophy haul

MARTIAL arts students from Chirk battled against stiff competition at the recent Holywell Open Martial Arts contest.

Nathan Darlington, pictured back, Owen Roberts and Luke Fleet, pictured front, brought home seven trophies between them following the contest held earlier this month at Holywell Leisure Centre, including a trio from Nathan.
The group train at the Chirk Lau Gar and Kickboxing Club every Wednesday.
Club coach Jack Davies said: “They have all worked really hard. Nathan and Luke have had successes at previous tournaments, but they have both knuckled down hard for this one.”
He also said competition was tough, with more experienced fighters taking on the Chirk group.
“I’m extremely pleased for them and for us, but they were the ones who put the hard work in,” Jack added.
