The second Steve Egerton Memorial Mixed Doubles Tournament was held at the Hollies Tennis Club last month.
On Sunday August 19, 25 members competed for the trophy. Partners were drawn at random which lead to an exciting afternoon with the result completely unpredictable.
A barbecue was enjoyed before the excitement of the final. Pete Egerton and Louise Moseley v Dan Large and Wendy Paton was a very close and exciting match with Pete and Louise emerging as victors.
Elaine Egerton presented the cups to the winners. Pete proudly accepted his cup in memory of this father Steve in front of many of his family.
The tournament raised almost £400 which will be shared between Cancer Research and the Hollies Tennis Club.
The next event is the Club Championships on Sunday September 16 at 1pm. Everyone is welcome to come to see quality tennis matches and be inspired to join the club.
The club is open all the year round with coaching for adults and juniors, beginners and more experienced players.
