Oswestry Tennis Club’s Ladies third team took to their club courts for their final fixture of the season knowing that they were already Division 5N champions but wanting to finish in style which they did with a comprehensive four point win over Rowton Castle.

Both the first round rubbers started tentatively for the Oswestry ladies but the first pair of Jo Dalietos and partner Carolyn Yates took theirs in straight sets 7-5, 6-2. The second pair of Amanda Coxhead and Catherine Fern dropped the first set after losing a couple of critical points but they took the second set to a tie break which they won 7-6 and then won the deciding third set tie break to take the rubber.

Leading 2-0 going into the reverse rubbers it was all plain sailing from there with both pairs winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-4 respectively.

The team has dropped only five points all season and Captain Linda Davies thanked all the ladies who had played their part in contributing to this excellent performance and look forward to playing in Division 4N next season.
