One of the New Saints prospective Welsh Premier League title rivals for 2018/19, Bangor City, have been relegated to the Cymru Alliance.

The club finished runners-up, 14 points behind TNS, and were expected to compete in Europe this summer, but were refused a licence on financial grounds.

Management team Kevin Nicholson and Gary Taylor-Fletcher have already left the club while former Football League player Danny Holmes has switched to Connahs Quay Nomads.

Bangor have accepted the league's decision, despite earlier planning to take their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, as it would have proved too costly to appeal the decision, plus it is likely they would have lost.

A club statement said: "Since hearing the devastating news...we as a club have been exhausting every avenue to try get the decision overturned.

"The possibility of the high court as well as CAS were both options explored.

"With the financial pressure involved to pursue this legal matter it would leave the club in a perilous position and could have significant implications on the immediate return to the Welsh Premier League."

The club expects to achieve a tier one licence for 2019/20, should it gain promotion.
