West Midlands Regional League

Kington Town 2

Wem Town 4

Wem stayed at the top of Division One after a hard-earned win on the road at Kington.

The Bowensfield men have reached 52 points and are in the driving seat for promotion to the Premier Division.

Wem have found a great level of consistency in the last few months and have overtaken Newport Town at the top of the table and the win was sealed by the team's go-to stars.

The goals were scored by Jim Astley, Dave Walbyoff and Adam Jones, who have all been in excellent form.

Meanwhile the club will be providing travel to another trip of the road as they travel to Worcester Raiders for a 2pm kick-off.

After several enquiries at the weekend, the club will be putting on a coach to Worcester on the February 10.

It will be £5 a seat, paid before the day. The bus will leave the social club at 10.30am. Any interest please get in touch with Jess on 07875483534.

Shropshire Premier League

Premier Division Cup

Gobowen Celtic 4

Prees 2

Prees, who are competing for the Premier Division league title, were given a shock as they were knocked out of the division cup by north Shropshire rivals Gobowen Celtic.

The Rec Men would have fancied their chances at bringing some silverware in at the end of the season but in difficult conditions in the quarter-final tie.

Prees went a goal down inside the first 10 minutes who then doubled their lead on the half hour.

Prees pulled one back on the stroke of half-time but Celtic scored twice more to put them through despite a last-gasp goal from the visitors.
