Chirk AAA 3, Brymbo 1
CHIRK moved 11 points clear at the top of the table with a hard earned win against a plucky Brymbo team who gave as good as they got for most of the game.
Chirk started brightly and were soon ahead when Aron Blackwell raced through to fire past ‘keeper Beer on the 15- minute mark.
The home team were dominating proceedings at this stage and should have increased their lead on several ocassisons before Brymbo slowly came back into things and Chirk keeper Gareth Jones kept them at bay with two great saves at his near post. However just before the break Jones was beaten when the lively Wood raced through to bring his team level.
Brymbo came out in the second period with their tails up and Chirk had a game on their hands.
Both teams battled it out in the midfield area and the game looked like it was going to end in stalemate until the controversial sending off of Brymbo's Dion Jones with 15 minutes remaining. Jones was dismissed for a two footed challenge on Chirks Joe Roberts and from then on Chirk took full advantage of their extra man. The impressive Blackwell fired in two late goals to secure the points for his team and take them 11 points clear at the top of the Premier Division.
This Saturday Chirk are on cup duty when they entertain Saltney Town in the Quarter Final of the League Cup, 1.30pm kick off.
Chirk Reserves game at Gresford was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. This Saturday they travel to Brymbo with a 2pm kick off.
