The family of a keen amateur boxer who died aged just 18 has presented a shield in his memory to the Ringside Gym and Boxing Club in Oswestry where he was a member.

Karwyn Owens of Chirk died in October and his mother, Chelsie Jones, (pictured right) presented the shield to ten-year-old Ben Coulson (front), the first winner of the annual award for the most improved boxer at the club.

Chelsie said: “Karwyn was always about helping people and we as a family feel that something positive should come out of this tragedy. We hope this award will help young people to achieve their goals in life.”
