Frankton v Montgomery

FRANKTON travelled to Montgomery on Saturday looking to keep the pressure on league leaders Wroxeter and did so with an impressive seven-wicket victory.

Montgomery had first use of the track and struggled to 141-9 from their 35 overs. Sam Phillips again impressing with the new ball as he claimed 3-13 from nine tight overs. He was well backed up by Ian Whitticase (2-20).

Top scorers for Monty were Tim Davies (46) and Aaron Ruff-Cock (32).

Overseas player Nalaka De Silva continued his impressive form as he fell agonising short of a fifth league 100 of the season as he was dismissed for 90.

There was also 23 from opening partner Whitticase and it was left to skipper Jordan Parry (12 not out) to hit the winning boundary as Frankton rose to the top of league for the first time this season as leaders Wroxeter had been beaten at Welshpool.

With three games remaining the destiny of the Division One title is now in the hands of the Hardwick Park men.

Result: Frankton (21 points) beat Montgomery (four points) by seven wickets.
