OSWESTRY-BORN soccer player Matt Done has achieved promotion to the Championship next season.

After a year at Division One side Rochdale, the 23-year-old attacking midfielder has completed a move to Barnsley along with manager, Keith Hill.

Former Marches schoolboy, Done was one of Hill's first summer signings after moving to Oakwell.

Done, whose parents still live in Oswestry, began his career with Wrexham, where he spent two years as a pro, before moving to Hereford where he spent a further two years. He had been at Rochdale for a season, making 32 appearances last term.

He said he was delighted with the move and was determined to repay his boss's faith in him.

Matt began playing soccer with Oswestry Boys Club but his potential was quickly spotted by Wrexham FC.

"I often get back to Oswestry to see my parents and to spend some time with friends.
"It seems to have got a bit quieter recently, but it's a good place to come to escape the pressure of professional football," he added.
