Olympians get in the medals

North Wales Athletics Championships

THE North Wales County Athletics Championships held at Deeside, saw nine-year-old Oswestry Olympian Kate Pugh win gold in the Under 11 Girls 600m, in her first experience of championship competition.

Kate followed up her time of two minutes 16.4 seconds with fourth places in the 75m (13.0sec) and long jump 2.53m.

Lily Roberts also secured medals in the Under 11 Girls age group with silver in the 75m (12.4sec) and bronze in the long jump with 2.73m as well as fifth in the 600m in 2min 28.7sec.

In the Under 13 Girls age group Hannah Pryce was fourth in the 800m running in 3min 0.4sec, whilst Zara Baker secured a bronze medal in the long jump with a new personal best of 3.70m and finished fifth in the 1500m with a time of 6min 9.2sec.

Not to be outdone, big brother Joe, also gained a bronze medal in the Under 15 Boys' long jump with a leap of 4.40m then finished fourth in the 100m in 14.0sec and fifth in the 200m in 29.3sec.

Shropshire County Athletics Championships
 
There were medals galore at the Shropshire County Championships for Oswestry Olympians' athletes. In blustery conditions, Kez Ogden set the standards on the day with three golds in the 100m hurdles, long jump and 200m in her first year in the Under 20 Womens' age group.

There were also gold medals for Cameron Dixon in the Under 17 Men's 200m and 400m hurdles, Joe Morris in the Under 17 Men's 1,500m and Toby Parkes in the Under 20 Men's 110m hurdles.

Anna Oloyede also gained three medals on the day with second place in the U15 Girls' long jump, and third in the 75m hurdles and 200m.

There were silver medals for Georgia Dixon in the Under 15 Girls' 75m hurdles, Daisy Tickner in the Under 17 Women's 3,000m, James Morris in the Under 15 Boys' 800m, Joe Morris in the Under 17 Boys' 3,000m and Toby Parkes in the U20 Men's long jump, whilst bronze medalists included Leah Vaughan in the Under 13 Girl's discus and shot, Daisy Tickner in the Under 17 Women's 800m, Natalie Bathers in the Under 20 Women's long jump, Jacob Tidridge in the Under 11 Boy's 600m and Cameron van Onselen in a fiercely fought Under 13 Boy's 1,500m and Jimmy Kershaw in the Under 17 Men's 3,000m.

There was also a Championship Best Performance from Olympians' Juniors Coach Emily Vaughan, in the Veteran Women's javelin where she threw 30.98m to win the gold medal.
 
Steve Roberts also collected two medals with silver in the Veteran Mens 3,000m in 10.38.6m and third in the 1,500m in 5.03.9m.

In the Senior Mens age group Toby Griffiths, currently a student at Loughborough University, won the 400m in a time of 50.0s.
