After it was revealed Maesbury Primary was one of four small schools in the Oswestry area facing closure, Rosemary Finney expressed her sadness and disappointment, but vowed to fight against the proposals.
"I'm still hopeful that when it comes to the period of consultation, working with the Governors, we can put as good a case as possible to keep the school open.
"There is a lot going on outside of the school too with parents and MP Owen Paterson.
"I don't particularly want the school to be involved in politics."
Speaking to the Advertizer when the controversial primary school policy was first announced, Rosemary said that she felt the county council had a commitment to rural schools.
Last week, Rosemary said: "I still really do think they value small schools. I don't think this is something they want to do."
