AN ACTION group who fought to save Weston Lullingfields CE Primary School from closure are now celebrating the county council's policy u-turn.
Sarah Edwards, of the action group, expressed her relief and said: "We're all really pleased.

"We're all going to just carry on fighting, we've got a lot of support and we want to continue to try to make Weston Lullingfields Primary a world-class primary school and fill our spaces."

When asked about the reasons behind the council's decision, Sarah speculated: "I'd heard that they couldn't legally close the schools.

"Apparently the way they were doing it was not the right way of going about it. As far as we're concerned this is just fantastic news.

"From now on if they want to close individual schools then each school will be able to fight its own corner and this has built a big network of support for threatened schools."
