THE headteacher of the threatened Maesbury Primary School has expressed her relief after they were spared the axe.
Head Rosemary Finney said that it is "back to business as usual" for the school, following the announcement that the 22 Shropshire schools facing closure will, for now, stay open.

Rosemary said: "I think there was so much pressure from so many different places that they didn't have a choice.

"We are all very relieved, and it's nice to get on with normal school business instead of all the work that was going into building a case against closure.

"We have a Governor vacancy coming up at the school and we are hoping that the increased interest that has come out of this will bring forward more people applying for the position.

"At the moment, it's business as normal," she said.
