TNS 8 Cardiff Met 0

THE gulf in class between TNS and the rest of the JD Cymru Premier was highlighted as the Oswestry inflicted a humiliating defeat on the capital club on Saturday.

Brad Young scored a hat-trick on his 21st birthday while Ryan Brobbel, Adrian Cieslewicz, Declan McManus and Rory Holden also found the back of the net in the most one-sided affair of the season so far.

The result extends The Saints’ lead at the top of the JD Cymru Premier to 15 points, with one game to go before the league splits.

Josh Daniels tested Met goalkeeper Alex Lang before Leo Smith fired wide but the floodgates opened after 28 minutes with Lewis Rees dismissed for fouling Smith in the area and Brobbel converted from the spot.

OTHER NEWS:

Young lashed home Rory Holden's left wing cross from close range as TNS doubled their lead on 36 minutes before Brobbel doubled his personal tally.

It was all over by the break with Young swivelling in the area to lash past Lang and seal the spoils before the interval.

Substitute Adrian Cieslewicz joined the rout after the break with his deflected effort beating Lang as the visitors began to long for the return trip home.

Cieslewicz turned provider to cross for Declan McManus to head home before the Scotsman teed up Young to complete his hat-trick.

Smith struck the bar and Lang denied Cieslewicz his second of the game but TNS had the final say with Holden completing the scoring from the edge of the area with two minutes remaining.
