Oswestry campaign, Footfall are making it their mission to fill empty spaces in town with colourful designs.

Footfall has given an opportunity for people from The Marches School, North Shropshire College, Oswestry Youth Club and Oswestry Wildlife Trust, Llanfyllin High School, Oswestry Musical Theatre Group and Rhyn Park School to showcase their work in the town.

It was launched in 2009 to vitalise the town and to make it more attractive for visitors and residents, and to improve empty spaces and shops.

The group meets monthly to liaise with businesses and associations to get into shops and create a vibrant design. It is on a voluntary basis along with the cleaning and clear up of shop fronts.

Lucy Evans, chair of Footfall said: "It is an opportunity for students to use their artwork. We have been talking to Sainsbury's about the wall at the back of the supermarket and it would be great if the students from Derwen College came to paint. The design would be to do with the cattle docks to be keeping with the area.

"Vacant shops are being take up more quickly and there are now more shops in use compared to 2009."
