Designs in Mind, based in JOLT on Cross Street, has launched a new campaign to stamp out stigma around mental health.

The campaign, #SmashingStigma, aims to get people talking about mental health and to support these issues.

Designs in Mind is also on a journey to raise funds to sustain their shop for the next three years.

Catherine Wilks from JOLT said: "Everyone in the studio lives with mental health issues but even with increased media on mental health, people still lack knowledge.

"Since we opened the shop three people have come in to speak to us about how there is 'no such thing as mental health issues'.

"There is a huge lack of understanding and changes need to be made and that's what our current campaign will do.

"We want to have a powerful conversation and we want to see a change in people getting the support from locals."

The team are also trying to raise £40,000 to cover their three year lease which will make the shop permanent.

To tie in with mental health awareness week they will be holding a coffee morning on May 17 at 11am for people to see exactly what they are about.

Catherine added: "The shop makes people with mental health issues feel safe and it gives them a purpose in life, and shows they are worth something."
