A programme aimed to help anyone concerned about diabetes is being held in The St Martins Centre in May, run by Shropshire Rural Communities Charity.

Diabetes is becoming increasingly common but it is estimated 80 per cent of type 2 diabetes cases are avoidable.

Simple lifestyle changes have been shown to help delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.

To prevent its complications people of all ages should achieve and maintain a healthy body weight, be active, have a healthy diet and avoid tobacco use.

Once Diabetes has developed, there are more lifestyle adaptations which can help to manage the potentially serious complications.

For anyone concerned about their diabetes, or at risk of developing the condition, Shropshire Rural Communities Charity is hosting a Diabetes Awareness Programme on May 3 1:45pm until 4:30pm, and May 2pm until 4:30pm.

The programme runs as two afternoon sessions and is free of charge to people with diabetes, their families and anyone who is concerned about developing the condition.

Everyone is welcome but places must be booked in advance by phoning Jayne at SRCC on 01743 360641 or email enquiries@shropshire-rcc.org.uk.
