The popularity of a visit to Oswestry by actress and screenwriter Ruth Jones has led to another date being added.

Booka Bookshop announced last week that the Gavin and Stacey star would be visiting the town in April to talk about her debut novel Never Greener.

But following a speedy sell-out a second date has been announced.

It means 'An Evening with Ruth Jones' at The Wynnstay Hotel on Thursday, April 12, will be followed by a 'lunch-date' against at the hotel on Friday, April 13.

Carrie and Tim Morris, owners of Booka Bookshop on Church Street, said: "Our event with Ruth on Thursday, April 12 sold out so quickly. We’re thrilled to be hosting this additional lunchtime event – don’t miss this chance to meet Ruth!"

They added: "Ruth Jones is best known for her outstanding and award-winning television writing – BBC 1’s Gavin and Stacey, in which she played the incorrigible Nessa, and Sky 1’s Stella.

"In this, her unmissable debut novel, she shows us the dangers of trying to recapture that which was once lost and failing to realise the beauty of what we already have."

Tickets for the lunchtime event are £15 to include a signed copy of Never Greener, or £10 without the book, and are available from Booka Bookshop or via www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ruth-jones-never-greener-tickets-42817531389
