The Advertizer is going all hi-tech!
There had been plans to make digital copies of the paper which are held at Oswestry Library, to make finding editions and stories far easier.
The cost, though, was an issue – and although fundraising started, the total seemed well out of reach.
But the Oswestry Family and Local History group has now secured matched funding from the Bedstone Educational Trust to allow the work to take place.
Pam Willing from the group said: "The films will be sent to a firm in Manchester for digitising and will therefore not be available for consultation in the library from Thursday onwards.
"The whole process should take about four weeks.
"The group and the library apologise for any inconvenience but we believe when the new images are available on computer, the service to the public will be greatly enhanced and the newspapers preserved for the foreseeable future."
