IT WAS prize time at Llanfyllin High School as outstanding achievers in Welsh culture and the arts were recognised by the Montgomeryshire Society and the school’s St David’s Day Eisteddfod.

Lady Beau Davies of Llandinam was on hand to dish out the prizes at the event as the guest of honour.

The Montgomeryshire Society’s Clement Davies art competition was won by Sienna Williams for her entry, ‘My Pet’, while Hannah Furlong took second prize for her ‘Favourite Season’. Ruth Davies took first place in the Vaughan Davies Welsh Essay competition, with Nia Robinson in second place.

In the Urdd Eisteddfod, Lloyd Davies will be heading to the national finals in Builth Wells after coming first in the under 19s recital at the county event.

In the school’s own eisteddfod Cadi Glwys won the chair for the best Welsh poetry and also took the Sion Jones Trophy for most memorable performance, while Niamh Taylor won the chair for the best English short story.
