A consultation into the future of emergency health care across Shropshire launches next week.

The 14-week Future Fit discussion will include a series of public events across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, and mid Wales, including one in Oswestry on August 15.

It comes as health bosses look to create a single accident and emergency department at either the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital or the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, with the other taking planned care, and supported by a series of urgent care centres.

Simon Freeman, accountable officer for NHS Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said: “This is fantastic news for our local communities and a major step forward in making sure we can secure two vibrant hospitals and improve the care received by people across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, and mid Wales now and in the future.

"When the consultation launches, we would urge everyone to come to our events, visit our website and have their say by filling out our survey.”

The consultation, which launches on Wednesday, May 30 alongside a new website - www.nhsfuturefit.org - comes after the Department of Health confirmed £300 million in funding to help with the changes.
