It was a week of adventure as students from North Shropshire College (NSC) went on a week-long visit to the Outward Bound Centre at Aberdovey recently.

The week was designed to enable the Uniformed Public Service students to advance their leadership skills and work on their team-working skills through a series of different challenges, including climbing a wall as a team and taking on ‘Jacobs Ladder’.

They then put their climbing skills to good use climbing the slabs above Barmouth and walked up Cadair Idris, where they set up a camp for the evening before walking 12km back to the centre.

Their week came to an exciting conclusion as they were set a team challenge to build their own raft and paddle down the river to the local water sports centre, followed by a pier jump into the sea.

Marie Davis, sport lecturer at NSC, who accompanied the students on the trip, said: “It was a fantastic week and we were delighted to have such an enthusiastic group of students.

"It was a pleasure to watch them develop their leadership skills, and to see them achieve so much personally throughout the week, and I hope that they will put these skills to good use during their time with us at NSC and in the workplace after they finish their studies.”
