West Mercia Police have carried out more than 2,000 'stop and searches' between September 2017 and February 2018.

Out of the 2,045 vehicles that were stopped and searched, action was taken on 741 (36.23 per cent).

In these successful cases, 79 per cent were linked to the purpose of the search and 21 per cent were not linked.

The majority of the people who were stopped were aged 18 to 24. It was also shown the most popular time of the day the searches occurred was 12am to 3am.

Nearly 60 per cent of the reasons to stop and search were because of controlled drugs. The second largest reason was because of stolen goods at 14 per cent.
