A pair of intruders were disturbed while in a house in Melverley.

Police are investigation after the broke into the property between 2pm and 3pm on Saturday, February 24.

A spokesperson for Oswestry Police said the pair made off in a dark coloured vehicle.

They added: "A window had been smashed and another damaged to gain entry. One male was described as white, 6ft tall, of big build, and wearing dark clothes with a beanie hat. The other was in dark clothes. Both were believed to be no more than 30 years old."

Other incidents being investigated are:

- a suspected attempt to break into a house in Ascot Close, Oswestry was reported to police on Sunday, February 25, when a householder found the patio doors had been damaged (0304s 250218)

- between 9pm on Sunday, February 25 and 6am on Monday, February 26, outbuildings at a cottage in Woolston, near West Felton were raided. A keyboard was taken from one and a Honda lawn mower and chainsaw were stolen from another. An unsuccessful attempt was made to break into a further building (0209s 260218)

- 400 litres of heating oil was stolen from premises at Sweeney, Oswestry at some time between January 8 and February 9. It was reported to police on Thursday, February 22 (0255s 220218)

- between 6pm and 11pm on Wednesday, February 21, cash was stolen from the box on a kiddies play car at the entrance to a supermarket in Wharf Road, Ellesmere (0396s 220218)

- at some time between Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25, a dwelling in Prescott Road, Baschurch was attacked while the family was away. A window frame was damaged and a room ransacked (0592s 240218)
