PLAYERS of all ages are being sought for a cricket club in Chirk's upcoming 2022 season.

Chirk Cricket Club, which plays in Holyhead Road, play in the Shropshire Cricket League — having moved across from the North Wales Cricket League – and is looking to supplement its two teams.

A spokesman said that while the club, which was formed in 1867, has a good base of players, it would like to fill the club with more to ensure fixtures are fulfilled.

They said: "Although anyone and everyone are welcome to join ourselves, we are looking for players to join our successful club and move forward in the seasons ahead.

"We are looking for players of all ages and abilities.

"We operate two teams in the Shropshire County Cricket League in Divisions One and Six and take part in the new Hundred competition.

"In the club, we have players ranging from teenagers to 67.

"The club left the North Wales League in 2018 with both teams gaining promotion in our first season playing over the border in 2019.

"Although, the club had another successful season on the field in 2021, it our undoubted belief that more personnel is required, especially in the seconds.

"Furthermore, if you are not looking to play but to take part in other areas such as sponsorship, groundwork, scorer or umpiring then please get in touch."
