A Chirk care home which regularly invites members of the wider community to visit and join residents in a wide range of activities is looking for volunteers with interesting hobbies to volunteer with them in the future.

Residents and staff at Chirk Court, which is managed by Clwyd Alyn Housing Association, recently held an Open Day with the theme of celebrating Queen Elizabeth II 92nd Birthday.

The event was a great success. There was lots of fun, plenty of Birthday cake and John Kyffin entertained attendees and residents alike, singing songs from the 1940s and 50s,” said Mandi Southern, activities coordinator at the home.

“It was a great opportunity to also thank so many in the wider community who give up their time and their talents to help us with a wide range of activities.

“We really appreciate the great partnership and support we have with those within the community, and would welcome and appreciate volunteers who might have skills, hobbies and interests that they could share with residents. If you have green fingers and are keen on growing vegetables our gardening group would like to hear from you, or if you have any other hobbies or skills give us a call – we’d love to hear from you,” said Mandi who can be contacted on 01691 774286.

The next community event planned at Chirk Court is an coffee morning as part of the national ‘Alzheimer’s Society Cupcake Day’ on Thursday June 14 from 10am to 12 noon.
