As Wales rapped up their Six Nations competition last weekend there were plenty of pubs with fans cheering them on.

But if you stopped off at the Bridge Inn in Chirk on Saturday you would have been forgiven for thinking the players might have been able to here their chants from the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

That's because the Monswn Choir Lead from Anglesey paid a visit to watch the nail-biting 14-13 win over France at the pub which sits only a few metres over the border.

Landlady Dee Jones said: "We're a little bit of Wales in England here, but we've always been known as a Welsh rugby pub, so I asked the choir is they would come all the way from Anglesey.

"We were like sardines in a tin here, but they were absolutely phenomenal."

The 15 choir members sang a selection of traditional Welsh songs, including Calon Lan, as well as some acoustic versions of English songs.

It went down so well with the pub regulars that they had a quick whip round for the choir.

Dee added: "We are definitely going to have them back.

"In the summer we are going to have a festival on the decking and they will will be the finale."
