THE official question for the St Martins referendum on SP Manweb's 132Kv overhead powerline proposals has been set.
Campaigns against the energy firm's proposals to route overhead power lines through the village will culminate in a poll at the St Martins Centre on May 15, from 4-9pm.

The question being asked is: 'Should St Martins Parish Council make representations to the Secretary of State for the Environment to request that SP Manweb modify the proposed route of their 132Kv power line or place it underground through the parish?'

No poll cards or postal vote ballot papers will be issued, and the vote will be in the form of a yes or no answer to the question.

The outcome, however, will not be binding on the parish council.
Anyone who is on the electoral register for St Martins and marked as eligible will be entitled to vote in the parish poll.
