Setee 'swallows' family pet

FIREMEN had one of their most unusual assignments last week when they rescued a puppy trapped in a settee.

The Oswestry firefighters were summoned to a house in Plas Newydd Close when Molly, a 16 week old bichon frise became entangled in the reclining mechanism of her owners' settee.

Mrs Sylvia Pritchard explained how she and her husband were just settling down to watch the second half of the Liverpool and Chelsea match. She got off the settee to see where Molly was when she heard the dog's anguished cries as it was dragged into the gears of the reclining mechanism

After trying to get the terrified dog out themselves they had to send for the fire brigade who then needed the services of a vet to sedate the animal while they took the settee apart.
