OSWESTRY Cattle Auctions have joined the Smithfield development debate, saying they must invest in the livestock market.
Chairman of Oswestry Cattle Auctions, Roy Jones, said: "The Livestock Market is a business.

"It is a going, commercial concern.

"Anyone who is involved with a business will know that you must invest in it from time to time.

"Such a time has arrived for our business in Oswestry - to deliver a first class service to our customers, to compete with Welshpool and Shrewsbury and to respond to developments in animal welfare and hygiene."

Mr Jones explained the process which has led to the proposals for the £56million Smithfield cinema and retail development.
